Good Fences

Found this stone fence on the way to Ada, OK from Texas. I had to pull over and take a couple of pics.
Beyond the gate. Nice little home, don't you think?

Gus Discovers a Chicken

We had gorgeous weather for the weekend. I hope you did too. In an attempt to help Gus have a good day without his friend, we decided to go up to Lincoln Log Cabin Historical Site for a walk.
The grass was a brilliant green and the trees are starting to get leaves and the blossoms are amazing.
Gus was enjoying his walk...
I was a bit surprised he didn't react to the sheep.
Mama Sheep sure kept an eye on him.
The chickens sure did catch his eye, though. This one got a little too close to the fence.
Gus peeked through the cracks, but didn't bark. It was difficult to get him to move on. I think he likes them.

The Rainbow Bridge

Findley 2014 - 2016

One of the sweetest dogs I've known crossed the bridge yesterday. He started suffering seizures a couple of months ago and was on medication, which didn't stop them, but somewhat controlled the frequency. Until yesterday.

He had his first seizure around 11:30 a.m. He had 2 more while I was home for lunch. I gave him a shot of valium and his dose of meds. I thought they had stopped. As soon as I returned to work, they started again. By the time we got to the vet he was up to 10 seizures and had another in the office. He was unconscious and not coming out of them this time. The determination was probable brain tumor, so I had to let him go to stop his suffering. Gus is wandering around looking for his friend. We are sad.

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Her bright eyes are intent; her eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, her legs carrying her faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.

Good Fences

Early morning near Tupelo, OK.
As I took a walk around the ranch, I heard nothing but birds and horses munching on grass.

Tupelo, OK

After visiting friends in Texas, we turned north to Oklahoma to visit more friends. On the way we passed through Lindale, OK. I had to stop and take a picture of Miranda Lambert's store, The Pink Pistol.

It was about a 2 hour drive to Tupelo, Ok. We turned off the main road onto this.

Talk about a long and winding road. Well, not so much winding as up and down. Loved seeing the horses. This on in particular caught my eye. I'm told this is a Leopard Appaloosa.

The entrance gate looking out from the house. Taken the morning we left.
This is the road on past the ranch.
And I thought I lived in the middle-of-nowhere. It was awesome there. No traffic noise. All I could hear was the wind and the birds singing. Awesome!

Near Whitesboro, Texas

I'm trying to piece together pictures from 2015. My computer's hard drive crashed and I lost them all. I'm glad to say I did post some last year, so was able to recover the shots from my blog and facebook. Not many to make a 2015 photo album from, but I guess they will have to do. It's what I give my children for their birthdays. It was a Saturday morning and I thought I should copy all my pics on the computer to my external hard drive, but of course I procrastinated. The crash was the next day. Now I have them in "the cloud" somewhere. Hopefully if I need them I can find them.

Last week we went to Texas. The we is someone I have known since the early 1970s. We have always been friends and on the fringe of each other's lives. Last fall, we discovered we were both single at the same time, so we are enjoying life together.

Anyway, back to Texas. We went to visit mutual friends and enjoyed some time in ranch country. Near the OK border.
Reminded me of how much I miss living in Texas. Plus the weather was awesome.
It's cold and raining here. Brrr.

The Pups

It's been a while since I posted, so guess I'll start with pics of the pups. They are, after all, my favorite subjects.

Had to say goodbye to Fergus, almost 3 years old.
X-Hubs has custody.

Findley (below) is now 1 1/2 years old.

Meet Gus, a red heeler mix. Born 11/3/15.

The photo below was taken this morning after a romp outside.

Gus enjoys napping on my lap.
